Upper Arms
Sagging and disturbing excess skin, as well as fatty tissue on the upper arms, can be removed through liposuction and contour and shape can be improved.
About Liposuction
Liposuction can be used to remove fat deposits that cannot be reduced through targeted exercise or diet. Typical areas of the body where liposuction is successfully performed are the abdomen, thighs, hips, inner knees, lower legs, chin, and upper arms. Liposuction is not suitable for weight loss in overweight individuals.
Abdomen
The abdomen, particularly the lower abdomen, is a typical site for the development of fat deposits in women. With good skin elasticity and localized fat deposits, liposuction can usually improve contours. If the skin is also overstretched, resulting in striation, and the abdominal wall muscles are weakened (e.g., after pregnancy), this sagging tissue usually cannot be completely reversed even with targeted exercise and weight loss. In these cases, surgical correction through a so-called abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is possible.
Legs/Butt
Women often have fat deposits, especially on their thighs. When these deposits occur on the outer side, they are referred to as "saddlebags." These localized excess fat can be removed particularly effectively with liposuction. Fat deposits can also be removed from the inner thighs. In rarer cases, such as after significant weight loss, there is such a significant excess of skin and subcutaneous tissue that liposuction is insufficient, and a tightening procedure is necessary.
1The Procedure
Liposuction is performed using thin cannulas inserted through small incisions. The fat is broken up and suctioned out, reshaping the treated area. Lipofilling involves harvesting fat from one area of the body and transferring it to another area that requires volume enhancement.
The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the treatment area. Recovery time varies based on the areas treated and the volume of fat removed or transferred.
Aftercare
After liposuction, you'll need to wear compression garments for several weeks to minimize swelling and help your skin conform to your new body contours. Most patients can return to work within 1-2 weeks, though strenuous activities should be avoided for 4-6 weeks.
For lipofilling procedures, it's important to avoid pressure on the treated areas during the initial healing period to maximize fat survival. Final results become apparent as swelling subsides over 3-6 months.
2Consultation
During your consultation, we'll assess your areas of concern, discuss your goals, and determine if liposuction or lipofilling is appropriate for you. We'll explain the procedure in detail, including potential risks and expected outcomes.
It's important to have realistic expectations about what these procedures can achieve. While liposuction can significantly improve body contours, it is not a weight loss solution or a substitute for a healthy lifestyle.
