Xanthelasma
Laser treatment for eyelid cholesterol deposits

Xanthelasmas are yellow plaques or nodules that develop due to cholesterol deposits in the tissue or storage cells of the upper or lower eyelid. They can be flat or raised, are usually located near the inner corner of the eyelid, and are visible to everyone. These aesthetically unsightly fatty deposits on the eyelid are considered a special form of xanthoma of the skin. They do not resolve spontaneously, are not treatable with medication, and require laser or scalpel treatment (e.g., as part of an eyelid lift).
If they appear before the age of 30, it may indicate hyperlipoproteinemia, whereas in older age they occur regardless of lipid metabolism. Patients affected by this condition should definitely have their blood lipid levels checked. In some cases, they are genetic.
I recommend the Fotona laser, which is also suitable for the removal or ablation of xanthelasma. Your skin will be treated with the utmost care, although redness and crusting may occur after treatment, which will subside after some time. Since slight skin irritation cannot be completely avoided during laser treatment, you should avoid tanning beds and sunbathing for a few weeks before and after treatment.
