Eyelid Lift
(Blepharoplasty)

Rejuvenate Your Appearance with Upper Eyelid Surgery

As we age, the delicate skin of our upper eyelids naturally loses elasticity and muscle tone, leading to a tired, aged appearance. This can manifest as drooping eyelids that not only affect your appearance but can also impair your vision. An upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) addresses these concerns by removing excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat from the upper eyelids, creating a more refreshed and youthful look.

Why Consider an Eyelid Lift?

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty may be the ideal solution if you're experiencing:

  • Excess skin that obscures the natural fold of your upper eyelids
  • Loose, hanging skin on your upper eyelids, potentially obstructing your vision
  • A tired, puffy appearance around your eyes
  • Difficulty applying makeup due to excess skin

Benefits of an Eyelid Lift

Improved Appearance

Eliminating excess skin and, in some cases, fat that contributes to a tired or aged appearance.

Enhanced Vision

For some patients, removing excess skin that obstructs the eyes can improve previously obstructed peripheral vision.

Long-lasting Results

While the aging process continues, the results of an eyelid lift can last for many years, providing long-term satisfaction.

The Procedure

Before Surgery

During your consultation, we'll discuss your aesthetic goals, review your medical history, and perform a detailed examination of your eyelids and surrounding structures. This allows us to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

During Surgery

The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation and takes approximately 1-2 hours. Incisions are meticulously placed within the natural crease of the upper eyelid, minimizing the visibility of any resulting scars.

Through these incisions, excess skin is removed, and small amounts of fat may be repositioned or removed. The muscles may also be tightened if necessary.

After Surgery

Recovery is generally quick. Most patients experience mild swelling and bruising that typically subsides within 7-10 days. Stitches are usually removed within a week, and most patients can resume normal activities within 10-14 days.

Important Considerations

Ideal Candidates

  • Healthy individuals without serious eye conditions
  • Typically 35 years or older, though this can vary based on genetics and skin quality
  • Non-smokers or those willing to abstain from smoking several weeks before and after surgery

Potential Risks

  • Temporary swelling, bruising, and dryness
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Scarring (usually minimal and concealed within the natural eyelid crease)
  • Temporary blurred or double vision
  • Temporary difficulty closing eyes completely
